Florida Style...

The celebration of mommy's 70th birthday was a four day occasion. (real Naraine style)  We thought for a moment she was getting married again...

It all started on Friday night, April 6th the eve of the big day, with all the family trickling in one by one. Shri and Darsh had everyone over for dinner where we all gathered and made final arrangements, taking notes of who was responsible for what on the following day. It was so much fun just being together and chatting. Premi, Aunty Lena and Deodat mamee arrived from Canada. Anoop, Priya, Sachin and Sashri arrived from Guyana, this was a big and pleasant surprise for mommy, she wasn't expecting them, so, you could imagine the tears. It was a pleasure having everyone here share this beautiful moment with us.

On April 7th 2007 we had the privilege of celebrating mom's 70th birthday. It goes without saying it was one of the happiest days for us. She looked absolutely radiant. No one would imagine she was celebrating her 70th birthday she didn't look a day over 50.   Shri off course was the MC and did a phenomenal job as usual.

We were blessed to have been able to share the day with our dear friends and family in the temple where mommy is a faithful member, she would have not been happy celebrating this day anywhere other than at her temple.

She celebrated her special day with a Hanuman pooja. She had an adoring crowd who all were very honored to be part of her celebration. Mommy was in her glory with the chanting of bhagans sung by the kirtan group and was also serenaded by Robin with a special song for his aunty Shani "Khabi kushi khabi gham". There was also a tassa band that played in her honor. It was certainly a memorable evening, one mommy surely will never forget.

Saturday evening was followed by Sunday at Vashtee and Robbie's home where the celebration continued until dusk. This was the day for all the "non" vegetarian dishes and alcoholic beverages we all ate and drank and as usual had a merry time, you know we only look for an excuse to have some fun.
It all ended on Monday at our home, Wayne and mine, with a melt down of all the hype of the weekend. We had a simple dish and enjoyed each other's company for the last before everyone departed to their respective homes.
To all of you who were here to celebrate with us, we thank you for your participation, we enjoyed and honored your presence. To all who were not able to attend we know your thoughts and spirits were with us, we missed you tremendously.

Love and best wishes always ~ Preeta
