The wonders of Istanbul.
Top left - St Saviour of Chora which houses one of the world's most precious collections of Byzantine mosaics and frescos (see below)was built between 1316 and 1321. Top right - Ayasofya Camii by night- I can still hear the call to prayer drifting across the city. Bottom left and right - interiors of the Rustem Pasha Mosque and the Blue Mosque.
Byzantine Chapel-frescos which were not destroyed when the building was converted into a mosque in 1511.
These photos were take at the Spice Bazaar and the central market at Kadikoy.
Lights of all description and not an energy saving bulb in sight!
Surrounded by children from a local school who as part of their extra curriculum activities came to improve their English by talking to tourists - they were absolutely delightful. Istabul Modern well worth a visit and the comic in the back of this classic car was probably worth as much as the car!
